Zelensky visited the area near the border with Belarus and Poland

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky this Wednesday visited the Volyn region, located in the far north-west of the country and bordering Belarus and Poland, according to social networks.

“Volyn. Ukraine’s border with Belarus and Poland. It is a great honor for me to be here today to thank our border guards for protecting the state border,” Zelensky said on Telegram, quoted by the Spanish agency EFE.

Zelensky also praised the work of border guards in protecting the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut in the east of the country, where they are also deployed.

The statement is illustrated with a video showing Zelenskiy walking along a section of the border marked with a wire fence.

The footage also shows Zelensky awarding Ukrainian border guards.

During the visit, Zelenskiy discussed the economic, social and security situation in this part of Ukraine, which Kiev says he must protect against the threat posed by the presence of Russian troops in Belarus.

Zelensky was informed about the preparation and condition of the military units involved in this task, according to another official note published on the Telegram social network.

The President of Ukraine visited on Tuesday the city of Avdiivka near Donetsk, which was one of the hot spots on the eastern front of the war in Ukraine launched by Russia on February 24, 2022.

The war against Ukraine plunged Europe into the most serious security crisis since World War II (1939-1945).

The number of civilian and military casualties is unknown, but several sources, including those at the UN, say it will be very high.
