Guterres calls for ‘at least three days’ of truce in Sudan as Ramadan ends

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has made it a “high priority” in Sudan to have a ceasefire “for at least three days” in light of Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan.

At the end of the meeting, convened by the African Union to discuss the dramatic situation in Sudan, at United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York, Guterres said he saw a strong consensus from all participants in condemning the fighting in Sudan. and calling for a cessation of hostilities.
