Carla Castro, MP for the Liberal Initiative (IL), announced this Friday that she will step down as vice president of the party’s parliamentary group. She announced this through twitter.
“I am hereby coming to give a brief note on my resignation from the post of Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Bench,” the MP wrote on the social network.
Carla Castro explains that she refuses to perform a function that is not in line with practice. “I understand that positions need to be effectively implemented (in this case involved in strategy, communications and management) and without being in what’s going on and not being in politics for the position, I resigned.”
The liberal also mentioned that there are campaign promises that need to be fulfilled, such as the growth of IL in the Portuguese political space. “They are counting on me and nothing stands in the way of their pride and honor to work together every day for a more liberal Portugal. We continue to work.”
It should be remembered that Carla Castro was defeated in the election of the president of the party at the 7th National Congress. Rui Rocha was elected as the party’s new president and succeeded João Cotrim Figueiredo.
