Three firefighters are trapped in the Cavado River after being called to rescue two young people stranded on a small island near Crespos river beach in Braga.
The young people were rescued and are in good health under medical supervision. Firefighters wait for the river to subside so they can safely return to shore.
The situation occurred during the rescue at 21:00 of two young people who were taken by surprise by the rising current and stuck in the water. Amares firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly took away the first victim.
The second rescue proved difficult as rising water restricted access for firefighters, who mobilized additional forces. As a result, one of the teams was detained, and now she is waiting for the river to go down in order to safely leave.
24 firefighters from Amares and Zapadores de Braga and INEM are on site.
