According to ANA-Aeroportos, the strong winds felt at Madeira Airport since 00:00 this Tuesday have led to the cancellation of 42 arrivals and 37 departures, as well as the departure of four flights.
According to the information available on the website of the Portuguese airport manager consulted by the Lusa agency around 19:00, 42 arrivals and 37 departures were canceled and four flights departed.
During the day, only nine planes managed to land at the airport of Madeira – Cristiano Ronaldo, seven of which – before 12:10.
“Weather forecasts indicate continued restrictions on departures and arrivals. Confirm the status of your flight before heading to the airport,” ANA warns on its official website on the Internet.
On Tuesday, the Harbor Master of Funchal extended the warning of strong winds on the coast of Madeira, issued on Monday, until 06:00 Wednesday.
The warnings are based on the forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) regarding the general weather situation (wind and sea) on the coast.
The warning states that the wind will continue to blow from the northeast “from breezy to very breezy, strong in places.”
