On Wednesday, a Braga court applied preventive detention to five of the seven PSPs arrested as part of an anti-drug operation in the Santa Tecla district of that city, a police source told Lusa.
According to the source, preventive detention, the most serious of the forced measures, was applied to three women and two men.
Two other men detained in the course of the same operation are subject to periodic transfers to the local police station.
The operation was carried out on Monday, the day PSP executed 15 search warrants in residences and three in vehicles.
In addition to the arrests, the operation also seized 484 doses of heroin, 198 doses of cocaine and five doses of hashish, as well as 1,945 euros and seven mobile phones.
With this action, which involved 130 operatives, Braga’s PSP command considers it dealt a “serious blow to small-scale drug trafficking” in the city.
