Two young men accused of murdering Lucas Miranda confessed that they killed the young man at his own request. A 17-year-old boy died of asphyxiation near a reception center in Palmela in October 2020.
“Lucas was suffering and wanted me to kill him. I accepted the request out of compassion,” admits defendant Leandro Vultos, quoted by Jornal de Notícias.
In court, the accused young man stated that he had informed the Tabor Center, the host institution where the two lived, of his intention to kill Lucas.
“No one appreciated what he said, he once jumped down the stairs to commit suicide. I drew the attention of the director of the center, but no one wanted to know,” he added.
According to the prosecution, after killing the young man, the defendants tried to create a scenario in which one could believe in suicide by hanging before throwing the corpse into the well.
The youths are charged with aggravated murder and desecration of a corpse.
