“The beach of Santo Amaro de Oeiras in the municipality of Oeiras was banned for swimming today after water quality tests by the Portuguese Environmental Protection Agency (APA) showed that microbiological indicators exceeded the reference parameters, find water unsuitable for swimming,” the statement said.
“Having received information from the Portuguese Environmental Protection Agency (APA) with the advice not to visit the baths on the beach of Santo Amaro de Oeiras, the Harbor Master and the local commander of the Lisbon Maritime Police gave instructions to raise a red flag, and the municipality of Oeiras posted at the entrances to beach signs forbidding bathing,” the AMN reports.
The same body adds that the ban “
will remain until the results of new water quality analyzes show that the microbiological parameters are within the control parameters.”
