Let’s help Morocco: The mission of a group of Portuguese who came together to support earthquake victims

The critical situation facing Morocco following last Friday’s magnitude 6.8 earthquake deserves solidarity and awareness from several countries and entities. Faced with the tragedy, four Portuguese decided to join forces to support the victims. They are natural travelers who know the country well and have raised money for what they call “Mission: Help Morocco.”

Joao, José Pedro and Sebastian are heading to an African country, to the most remote villages, which have also suffered the most. Carlota, in turn, remains in Portugal to take care of all the logistics and collect as many donations as possible.

“The disaster that struck parts of the incredible country of Morocco last Friday has very serious consequences, especially in the mountainous and inaccessible areas near Marrakech. Next Thursday evening, September 14th, we will depart from Porto (4 volunteers) with two/three vans heading to these most critical areas to deliver as many goods as possible,” they wrote on Instagram.

This Thursday they thanked the social network for all the help they have received over the past few days to successfully implement the plan.

The earthquake is considered the most severe in 60 years and has killed more than 2,900 people. The scenario is one of destruction and uncertainty for thousands of families who lost everything they owned after the disaster.
