Diamond auction brought Angolan Sodiam 21 million euros

The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola (Sodiam) received 21 million euros from the auction sale of 1,329.89 carats of rough diamonds.

According to a Sodiam statement sent to Lusa, this was the seventh diamond auction held in Luanda and featured special stones from Sociedades Mineiras do Lulo, Kaixepa, Somiluana, Catoca and Luele.

The most valuable diamonds were mined at the Lulo mine and sold for almost $18 million (€16.9 million). 37 companies from the main diamond markets of the world took part in the auction.

According to Sodiam President Eugenio Bravo da Rosa, mentioned in the statement, despite the unfavorable circumstances for the global diamond industry, “it was possible to generate revenues that exceeded the expectations of producers, which demonstrates that there is still acceptable demand in the diamond industry.” international market for certain categories of stones.”

Evaluation sessions took place from October 3 to October 10, and the presentation of proposals submitted electronically continued until Wednesday, October 11.

The products sold by Sodiam are the result of 18 studies of kimberlites (rock) and alluvial (near rivers) and cover the entire spectrum of qualities in terms of size, patterns, clarity and color.
