Porto’s Child of the Year was born at 00:00 this Monday at the Centro Materno-Infantil do Norte. His name is Lucas and he weighs 3400 kilograms.
Parents Sandra, 20, and Rui Pedro, 24, will celebrate the New Year with their son’s birthday.
“Now every New Year will be different, Lucas’s birthday,” says his mother. He also adds that “he was supposed to be born on January 20th, but decided to go ahead.” He says the “birth went well” and he had a “great team.”
The boy’s father describes the experience of having his son as Baby of the Year as “amazing” and Sandra as “the best thing that could have happened to him in his life.”
“This is an experience I’ve never had before. I already have two grandchildren, and I have never had such an experience,” says paternal grandmother Rosa. “Lucas was born without forethought. But now, at the end of the year, there is always a party,” he adds.
He also hopes that his grandson is a “great man” and that he is “very healthy.”
