Currently, the Internet is an integral part of the lives of more than two-thirds of the world’s population. At a time when major global events are influencing search trends and online behavior, the Hostinger platform releases a report on the most visited websites in 2023.
The report shows that North American tech giants such as social networks Google and Meta continue to lead the way, but there is also a rise in demand for streaming and e-commerce platforms.
Google, Alphabet’s search engine, remains the most popular, with more than 87 billion visitors per month. Soon after, the video-sharing platform YouTube, owned by the same company, emerged with nearly 33 billion visits.
The social network Meta Facebook, which is visited by an average of 16.7 billion people per month, completes the podium.
In fourth place, social network Instagram, which is also owned by the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg, attracts almost 7 billion visitors, while Twitter (now X), owned by Elon Musk, ends the year with just over 6 billion. In sixth place is the Chinese search engine Baidu, which reached an average of 5 billion visits per month in 2023.
Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia ranks seventh with 4.5 billion. However, this year the platform published a list of the 25 most popular pages in its English version. At the top of the rankings is the page for ChatGPT, OpenAI’s artificial intelligence chatbot, with over 49 million views.
