All roads in Serra da Estrela are open to traffic from 12:00, the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Beiras and Serra da Estrela said.
The roads were opened gradually, depending on the conditions recorded, and the last ones providing access to the central massif, permanently closed since Saturday due to snowfall, reopened this Sunday at 12:00.
According to the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, in addition to other routes that opened and closed in the last two days, traffic has been restored in sections 11 (Piornos – Torre), 12 (Torre – Torre) and 13 (Torre – Lagoa Comprida), in the highest area of Serra da Estrela.
In a statement, Covilha Civil Defense urged motorists to drive “with caution.”
“Pay special attention to the condition of your vehicle and the weather conditions,” Covilha Civil Protection warned.
