Lisbon metro workers at a plenary meeting on Monday

Metropolitano de Lisboa (ML) workers will hold a general plenary session on Monday, which could cause “inconvenience” to the service, representative unions said in a statement, highlighting difficulties in negotiations with the company.

According to the statement, organizations representing OD workers will hold a general plenary session in the workshops of the Karnid complex from 10:00 to 11:00, and for night services from 23:30 to 00:30 (Monday to Tuesday evenings). .

“Any inconvenience caused by the holding of this plenary meeting or any resulting decision regarding the mobility of citizens in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area is not the responsibility of the OD staff, but rather the lack of negotiations imposed by this Board of Directors,” the note states.

The unions criticize “the position taken by the company’s Board of Directors during several negotiations that were intended to be effective, assertive and consistent, consistent with the known concepts of true collective bargaining.”

According to the note, the public transport company “did nothing to seek mutual understanding between the parties,” but rather took “a position of imposing its ideas, trying to convince people otherwise with words.”

“The employees of this company have always been guided by their behavior, a high sense of commitment to the city and the passengers they transport, and the high professionalism with which they carry out their functions and tasks every day, many of them even when the city is “sleeping.”

Organizations representing Metropolitano de Lisboa workers meet with company management to review the Company Agreement, career regulations, hiring new workers and other issues.

On February 1, the Federation of Transport and Communications Trade Unions (Fectrans) said that trade union organizations “again rejected the proposed increase, saying that the amount was insufficient and that it led to a sharp decline in the purchasing power of ML workers.” “, taking into account that the company wanted to “apply a 5% salary increase by an act of management.”

Regarding the remaining proposals submitted by the organizations, the company’s management, according to Fectrans, argued that it “does not meet the conditions for changes” in a number of issues, including a reduction in working hours to 35 hours per week, increases in the form of pay on public holidays or increasing your diet.

The federation then said that the company remained open to discussing proposals to change the guidance on absence procedures and the regulation of 28 hours of annual credits, as well as changes regarding the regularization of parts of absence time.

The Lisbon Metro operates daily on four lines: yellow (Rato-Odivelas), green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolonia) and red (Airport-Sao Sebastian).

The service usually runs from 6:30 to 1:00 am.
