Due to work over the weekend, train services between Cais do Sodre and Alges have been suspended.

Rail services between Cais do Sodre (Lisbon) and Alges (Oeiras) will be suspended again this weekend due to work to modernize the Cascais line and expand the Lisbon metro.

The CP — Comboios de Portugal train service between the two stations was already disrupted last weekend, 24 and 25 February.

“Train service in the Lisbon metro will not be affected,” said a note published on the website of the carrier, which serves four lines of the metro network.

The ban on CP trains between Cais do Sodré and Alges will begin at 23:00 on Friday and end at 2:00 on Monday.

The break is due to a new phase of the Lisbon Circle Line project, which involves the construction of a tunnel that will connect the new Santos station with the current Cais do Sodre station.

The Santos/Cais do Sodre connection will be carried out using an open excavation method, which will require preliminary changes to the route of the Cascais line.

As the note explains, this is an area of the city with a number of technical and infrastructural problems, including underground levels that require intervention with the utmost safety and rigor, incompatible with CP train traffic.

The work also involves the construction of a new atrium (west) at Cais do Sodre Metropolitano de Lisboa station with two direct surface exits for the CP platform, which will allow “increased customer flow in Cais do Sodre connects Sodre, where the metro operates, “CP, Carris and Transtejo.”

In addition to the replacement of road services provided by CP as part of the modernization works of the Cascais line, Lisbon Metro, CP, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), Carris and other transport operators, together with the Lisbon Chamber, have taken measures to minimize the restrictions caused by the suspension of rail transport .

An alternative bus route has been created on the Cais do Sodre/Alges route and in the opposite direction, between the stop dedicated to CP in Cais do Sodre at Praça Duque da Terceira (Fiori ice cream shop) and Largo da Estação de Ages (bus station , next to Avenida Marginal).

A direct bus route between Cais do Sodre and Alges and in the opposite direction will operate on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00, leaving from Cais do Sodre, on Rua da Sintura, to the port of Lisbon (with side of the river). , after the River Station, or Algés, on Avenida Dr. Alfredo Magalhães Ramalho, in front of the main entrance of the IPMA.

Carris routes that can be used near CP stations are: 15E, 751, 714, 728, 727, 732 and 201 (dawn network), and from Algés/Belen to the city center: 723, 729, 750, 751, 727. and 728.

For CP customers with a Navegante pass valid for the Cais de Sodré/Algés route, the note recommends using tram 15E with the Carris stop at Cais do Sodré (overground side) and at Jardim de Algés on Praça Square on April 25th.

“Buses serving the CP will be identified and equipped with ramps for people with limited mobility, and the transportation of bicycles will not be permitted,” the IP, CP and Metro also warn, adding that “the transportation of small pets is permitted if the animal is transported packed in appropriate container in hand luggage.
