Thirty-eight years after the end of Police, Sting returns to the trio format. This time, instead of Stuart Copeland on drums and Andy Summers on guitar, the British musician will be accompanied by drummer Chris Maas and guitarist Dominic Miller, a musician who performs live with Mumford & Sons. The idea is to return to the solo songs of Sting and from the police period.
The new band of 72-year-old Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner (Sting’s real name) is called Sting 3.0 and will go on tour in early summer. According to Rolling Stone, which quoted a statement from the project’s members, the trio will hit the road to celebrate “a dynamic new era, showcasing themes selected from their extensive catalog through the lens of the seasoned trio.” The tour begins June 26 at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, and ends in Los Angeles in November.
Let’s remember that the Police formed in 1977, leaving in 1984, releasing five albums.
