The Fourth European Games will be held in Istanbul in 2027, the Executive Committee (EC) of the European Olympic Committees (COE) announced this Wednesday.
“We were very pleased to see the approval of Istanbul’s candidacy to host the Games. This is great news for the athletes, the city and Turkey. We believe that this is an ideal location for the competition,” said the President of the Council of Europe, Spyros Kapralos.
Istanbul’s candidacy to host the European Games does not involve the construction of new equipment; the competition will be held in the existing infrastructure.
The first European Games took place in 2015 in Baku, the second in Minsk in 2017, and the third in Krakow in 2023.
