The measure will make Shein, an app created in China in 2012, the 23rd platform, joining X, Google, Facebook and TikTok, among others, to have to comply with stricter rules starting in August, four months after the decision. . , to protect consumers, especially minors, from illegal content, according to a statement from the community leader.
The platform must, in particular, comply with the obligation to take specific measures to empower and protect online users, and to properly assess and mitigate any systemic risks arising from the use of its services.
The Commission will monitor Shein’s compliance with the Digital Services Directive in collaboration with Irish media regulator Coimisiún na Méan, one of four with which Brussels has already entered into agreements.
