“Fire” performed by MEDUZA, OneRepublic and Leony will be the official song of the 2024 European Football Championship, which will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, UEFA has announced.
The song was written by American singer and producer Ryan Tedder, lead singer of the band OneRepublic, and produced by Italian electronic trio MEDUZA.
According to European football’s governing body, the theme “combines the Italian band’s beloved ‘house’ production, OneRepublic’s immersive soundscapes and Leoni’s pop expertise in a theme that embodies the fervor and spirit of football fans and music in equal measure.”
In the same statement, UEFA announced that three artists will perform “Fire” live at the Euro 2024 closing ceremony ahead of the competition’s final scheduled for July 14 in Berlin.
“Football and music have the power to bring people together,” said Philipp Lahm, former German footballer and Euro 2024 director.
At Euro 2024, Portugal will play in Group F along with the Czech Republic (18 June in Leipzig), Turkey (22 in Dortmund) and Georgia (26 in Gelsenkirchen).
