A 27-year-old man was seriously injured on Saturday morning after he was stabbed by a suspect in Aveiro during a fight between three people.
The assailant fled the scene but was intercepted by PNR officers approximately 200 meters from the corn plantation. The man was surrounded by people until authorities arrived.
Another suspect, 29, who suffered a fracture of one of his legs, was identified by the Aveiro Judicial Police and taken to Aveiro Hospital.
The attacks appear to have taken place in the context of a conflict in Largo da Igreja, near the site of popular festivals in honour of Santo António de Mamodeirou.
At around 4am, Aveiro Velhos firefighters were alerted to an incident involving attacks on a public road on Rua Direita, near the chapel, in Mamodeirou.
Firefighters from Aveio Novos, the Aveiro ambulance and resuscitation team and GNR representatives also attended the scene.
The victims were taken to Aveiro Hospital.
