Patricia Mamona won the bronze medal at the European indoor track

This Saturday, Patricia Mamona won the bronze medal in the triple jump at the European indoor track in Istanbul, giving Portugal third place in the Turkish capital behind the gold medals of Pedro Pichardo and Oriol Dongmo.

European indoor champion, the Portuguese trio made their best attempt at 14.16 meters straight in the first jump, losing to Italy’s Daria Derkach (14.20) and Turkey’s Tugba Danismaz (14.31, a new national record). However, Patricia Mamona’s result was nowhere near her best result of the year on the indoor track set three weeks ago in Pombal at 14.41 metres.

“I should be happy because until today I didn’t know if I would compete. Unfortunately, yesterday I got injured. [na sexta-feira] in qualification. I didn’t say not to worry. Now it hurts a lot, but it was in the adductor muscle, and now I feel my knee, which is normal, but I fought to the end, ”the Olympic champion shared.

With this podium, the Portuguese gets her third medal at the European Indoor Championships after silver in Belgrade 2017 and gold in Torun 2021. “It was the medal that was missing, it was the first, it was the second, and I should be happy with the bronze. I hope nothing serious, because the summer and the world championships are ahead, ”said the Sporting athlete.
