Torrential rains hitting Luanda led to four deaths, one of whom drowned and others were electrocuted, the Civil Protection and Fire Service said this Friday.
The dead were between 11 and 37 years old, while the whereabouts of the other two missing persons, aged between 8 and 41, have yet to be found, according to Luanda’s deputy civil defense and fire chief, Deputy Flavio.
The municipalities most affected were Cacuaco and Viana, and damage included flooding 1,199 homes and 1,201 affected families, as well as fixing 308 trees falling.
Flavio Cimbundi appealed to the population to follow the advice of the municipal administrations and the municipal commissions for civil protection and firefighters in order to avoid building on water crossing lines and water circulation next to drainage ditches during rain.
