Investments from 17 companies were picked up by Japanese venture capital firm Kyoto Fusioneering, which develops nuclear fusion technology, NHK television channel reports May 17.
The company was created primarily by researchers at the Institute for Advanced Energy at Kyoto University. They are developing next generation power sources.
It is assumed that as a result of their activities, the researchers will prepare a prototype power plant using nuclear fusion technology. The investors were 17 public and private companies.
In total, he managed to get 10.5 billion yen (6.2 billion rubles). With this money, he intends to hire more engineers who will have to speed up research and development.
Also, the startup intends to actively expand its business outside of Japan.
It is assumed that a reactor based on this technology will allow energy to be obtained without emitting carbon dioxide or generating radioactive waste.
