Kremlin: Kyiv ‘can avoid suffering’ if it accepts Russia’s terms

The Kremlin said on Thursday that Ukraine “can avoid further suffering” if it accepts Putin’s demands. The announcement comes after another day of massive bombing of vital infrastructure that prompted the Ukrainian president to ask the UN to punish Russia for what he called a war crime.

“Hospitals, schools, transport, residential areas were affected,” Zelensky said, stressing that 70 rockets fell on the country on Wednesday alone, which he called “the Russian formula of terror.” US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that Putin “is using winter as a weapon to inflict suffering on the Ukrainian people.”

“Ukrainian leaders can resolve the situation if they accept Russia’s conditions by ending the suffering of the population,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied, adding that all targets have military significance, “directly or indirectly.”
