The PSP detained a fan suspected of trespassing on the Ovarense stadium turf during a football match against Unian de Lamas on Sunday and kicked the visiting team’s goalkeeper, police said this Monday.

PSP said in a statement that the 23-year-old suspect was arrested for trespassing on the grounds of a sports show.

The incident took place in Parque Desportivo Marques da Silva, in Ovar, in the Aveiro region, during a football match between Associação Desportiva (AD) Ovarense and União de Lamas to determine 1st place in the SABSEG championship. Football Association of Aveiro.

According to police, the fan went onto the playing field and kicked the Uniao de Lamas goalkeeper, after which he immediately disappeared into the stands, where he was intercepted by the police on duty there.

Club Vareiro have already “strongly” denied the events that took place at the moment when the hosts were leading the victory with a score of 1:0.

“It was an isolated, sad act that in no way matches the values ​​set by Associação Desportiva Ovarense,” the club said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

Ovarense also mentions that the game was suspended 48 minutes into the first half due to União de Lamas’ refusal to restart the game, but denies the lack of security conditions, noting that there were almost 30 police officers there. elements in place.
