Authorities said on Friday that a house fire in the Xinjiang region of China’s far west has killed ten people and injured nine, the second fatal fire to occur in the Asian country this week.
The fire broke out on Thursday evening in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, where temperatures plunged below freezing after dark.
According to state media, the flames spread from the point of ignition from the 15th floor to the 17th floor, and the smoke reached the 21st floor. It took firefighters about three hours to put out the flames.
