The Movement for the Liberation of Sao Tome and Principe/Social Democratic Party (MLSTP/PSD, in opposition) warned today, following the attack on the barracks, of the “tendency to establish a dictatorial government in the archipelago”.
“Given the evidence of the November 25th acts and subsequent actions, the MLSP/SDP is warning the population and the international community of the trend towards the establishment of a dictatorial government in order to silence democracy and intimidate opponents through the establishment of terror. , fear and persecution,” said MP and member of the MLSTP-PSD political commission Raul Cardoso.
In a statement read to reporters at the end of the board meeting today, a political commission spokesperson reiterated that the MLSTP/PSD “condemns all acts of violence against citizens and public institutions” and adds that it “strongly condemns the barbaric way in which apparently connected and neutralized citizens have been subjected to brutal torture and executions at headquarters.”
