Resuming the dialogue for greater integration of the South American countries is the objective of the UNASUR summit, which opens on May 30 in Brasilia, reports the ANSA Latina news agency.
The summit is hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Observers see the summit as a test of Lula’s regional leadership skills.
11 heads of state will attend the UNASUR summit.
Let us remember that the restart of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) occurred with the announcement of the return of Brazil and Argentina to the organization.
The current members of the organization are Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Guyana and Suriname.
The remaining six countries that participated in the first phase of UNASUR and later left the organization (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay) were invited to the summit called by Lula.
