The search for a 25-year-old soldier who went missing in the north of Madeira after falling overboard on Saturday night resumed on Tuesday.
The search area is constantly expanding: about 450 km of searches at sea and 12 km on land.
The operations, coordinated by the Harbor Master and the local Funchal Maritime Police Commander, involve the Funchal Rescue Station vessel, the SANAS Madeira vessel and the GNR vessel. On land are GNR and army soldiers, as well as a group of drones from the Madeira Operations Command.
The notice of disappearance came on Saturday evening. A man was fishing on the old San Jorge pier in the municipality of Santana (north of the island) with a friend when he fell overboard and disappeared.
