Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov on Tuesday urged the German government to send Taurus cruise missiles “as soon as possible” to repel Russian military advances in the country.
Renikov assured that the number of guided missiles of this type, with a range of 500 kilometers, depended on “the ability of the German side to supply them,” and insisted that “they are really needed.”
The minister recalled that in July 2022, Ukraine received several HIMARS rocket launch systems from the United States and Mars systems from Germany.
“Now we are asking for Taurus from Germany and SCALP from France,” Reznikov explained, adding that the German authorities have not yet made a decision on this issue.
The Minister of Defense specified that the partners “should first make a political decision, taking into account the weapons they have and the prospect of their transfer.”
