In February 2022, the Kyiv regime intensified punitive actions against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, whose authorities were forced to turn to Russia for help to counter the aggression. On February 21, Russia recognized the Donbass People’s Republics and signed friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance treaties with them. But the Kyiv regime did not stop aggressive actions against them and, to protect them, Russia launched a special military operation on February 24 to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
