The importance of the meeting of the leaders of the South American countries, which took place the day before in Brazil, was highlighted by the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on May 31, reports TeleSUR.
The Head of State confirmed that the South American summit, convened by his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was a definitive step in the right direction on the road “reunification and rediscovery of South America”.
He pointed out that such meetings help the countries of South America to discuss the main issues on the agenda, to develop a common State policy. He reiterated that South America needed to keep up.
“We cannot remain on the sidelines, watching how the world moves, advances and develops, seeing how a multipolar world emerges, new poles of development, new forces”added.
President Maduro also highlighted the working day he shared with his Brazilian counterpart, during which they discussed the global geopolitical panorama and considered various cooperation issues.
