The President of the Assembly of the Republic will be one of the keynote speakers at the first working session of the NATO High-Level Leaders’ Meeting of Parliaments starting this Thursday in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Augusto Santos Silva will be “one of the keynote speakers” at the “Global Challenges, Global Partners, Global NATO” session scheduled for early Friday morning, according to a report from his office.
The meeting in Vilnius comes at a time when the war in Ukraine dominates the debate not only within the Atlantic Alliance, but also on a global political and diplomatic level.
The meeting will also discuss the topics “Internal Transformations: Increasing the Defense Load, Strengthening Deterrence and Defense” and “A Strong and Independent Ukraine: A Long-Term Plan to Support Ukraine.”
The Portuguese parliamentary delegation to this high-level meeting also includes Adau Silva, vice-president of the Assembly of the Republic and deputy of the PSD.
On behalf of the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Commissions of the Portuguese Parliament, MPs Miguel Iglesias and Dora Brandão, representing PS, took part in the meeting.
The meeting will last until Saturday, and it will be possible to follow it online on the portal of the Lithuanian Parliament (https://www.lrs.lt/sip/portal.show?p_k=2&p_kade_id=9).
