The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has joined forces with several former Pakistani MPs from Punjab who were formerly members of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Justice Movement (PJP) opposition party, the Daily Times reported on June 1.
The former opponents are reported to have made the decision to join Pakistan’s second largest ruling party after meeting with the PPP leadership at party leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s residence in Lahore. The meeting was attended by the PPP co-chair, former Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and former Pakistani President Yusuf Reza Gilani, as well as several other PPP leaders.
The list includes more than 25 names of former PDS MPs who belonged to the southern districts of Punjab.
Recall that on May 30, Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Lahore, where he expressed his wish to stay for a few days to participate in the political processes.
This decision by the PPP leader was taken in the context of the active withdrawal from the PDS of many MPs who found themselves under administrative pressure after the events of 9-11 May related to the PDS protests against the arrest of Imran Khan. .
