SNS24 recorded 24,770 sick leave requests in three days by self-declaring sickness in its first month of operation, the National Health Service (DE-SNS) Executive Directorate said Thursday.
Since May 1, 14,525 discharge requests have been received from women and 10,244 from men, with the majority of requests coming through the SNS24 mobile app (52.6%). 45.4% of sickness claims were made in the personal account of the SNS24 online portal, while the remaining two percent came through the SNS24 phone line, DE-SNS said in a statement.
Geographically, the Regional Directorate of Health (ARS) of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley concentrated almost half of these victims (10,700), followed by ARS do Norte (8,657), ARS do Centro (3,250), ARS do Alentejo (997) and Algarve ARS (971). In the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira, only 170 and 156 requests were registered, respectively.
By age, the predominant age group among self-declarations of illness in May were people aged 19 to 44, with approximately 18,000 requests, followed by the 45-64 age group, which accounted for about six thousand victims. .
“From the moment this document is completed, omissions are justified without a medical certificate for three consecutive days, and this process can be carried out up to two times a year,” DE-SNS emphasized, explaining that the request is signed under the honor of the user and without the need to visit the clinic – this can be done through the mobile application, through the personal account of the online portal or via the SNS24 telephone line.
Access to sick leave of up to three days through SNS24 is effective from 1 May under the Decent Work Agenda, the regulation of which was approved by the Council of Ministers on 4 May.
