President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday called on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to lift restrictions on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
“He stressed the need to unconditionally lift restrictions on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products,” Zelensky wrote on the social network Twitter about his meeting with the head of the regional executive committee, which took place on the sidelines of the second Ukrainian agricultural industry summit. European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski has called for an extension until the end of the year, or at least until October, of the veto on Ukrainian grain imports in force in five European Union (EU) member states: Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia.
Kiev hopes that the restrictions demanded by the governments of these countries to protect their farmers from the massive entry of Ukrainian products into their markets will not be extended when they expire next Monday.
