The Green University of Environment and Climate Change of Central Asia will open this year in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Natural Resources Aziz Abdukhakimov said on June 2, writes Gazeta.Uz.
“The educational institution will train personnel capable of solving important environmental, socioeconomic, and scientific and technical problems in Central Asia, so that students from all countries in the region can study at the university”– said Abdukhakimov.
It is specified that already in 2023/2024 the new university will begin to accept applicants.
It is reported that the new university will be temporarily located in the building of the forestry technical school. At the same time, a new building will be built on the territory of New Tashkent.
Green University will work under the principle of Hub and Spoke, that is, in addition to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies, the university will train non-basic specialists in disciplines related to the environment.
Education at the university will be carried out in Uzbek, Russian and English on the basis of a system of credit modules. The study will be organized according to the principle of integration “science – education – production”, that is, students from the first year will be attached to the industrial and scientific centers. At the same time, the teachers will be able to continue their studies abroad and the El-Yurt-Umidi Foundation will pay for them.
It will be possible to study at Green University on a budgetary and paid basis. The state allocates scholarships to graduates of presidential schools who have diplomas and certificates from international programs International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, International Advanced Levels. The winners of international Olympics in ecology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, computer science and the earth will also be able to receive scholarships.
Applicants who have high scores in entrance exams, as well as children from families included in the unified social protection registry, gifted students, will also be able to enter the university with a scholarship.
In addition, an ethnoecology research center will be created in the structure of the university, which will be located in Bukhara. The purpose of the center is scientific research of people from different regions, as well as ecosystems, Abdukhakimov said.
