The President of the Republic said this Saturday in Santarém that he hoped that after a “long wait” for an airport “predicted for more than 50 years”, this time a decision would be made and that “there will always be those who agree and those who disagree “.
“But the decision will be made,” Marcelo Rebelo de Souza said after being questioned during his visit to the National Agricultural Fair this Saturday about whether he would like to land at Santarem airport in 2029.
“I would like to land at the new airport before 2029 and for that I would like to make sure that there is a clear vision of the new airport by the end of this year,” he said.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa stated that he is concerned that he is very close to the end of his second term “and even if we are discussing how best to select and pre-select proposals until a decision is made”, knowing that, “taking decision, it still takes years to implement.
“After this long wait for the airport, planned for more than 50 years, whatever decision is made, there will always be those who agree and those who disagree, but the decision is coming,” he said.
