King Charles III addressed the Senate during his first visit to Wales as monarch.

People lined the streets of the Welsh capital to welcome the former Prince of Wales to the country where he first learned the language in 1969.

The King also met Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford, who said the Queen is “passionate about Wales and its people” and spoke about the sense of change Wales is currently experiencing.

In Welsh, he responded to a letter of condolence from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, expressing “deep gratitude” for the message.

he said:

In all the years of her reign, the land of Wales had never been so close to her mother’s heart.

“I know he was proud of your many great accomplishments.

“Without a doubt, owning the land that inspired so many loyalties must be seen as the greatest achievement.
