Iran will become a transit hub for grain after the North-South corridor is launched, Vladimir Kashin, a deputy and chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Affairs, said on June 7, the Mehr news agency reported. .
The Russian parliamentarian met with his colleagues from the Iranian parliament at the Russian State Duma. The meeting was aimed at developing bilateral parliamentary relations.
Kashin noted that Tehran and Moscow are under sanctions. He believes that the “Bilateral parliamentary cooperation can help boost relations and implement agreements”previously completed.
The committee chairman noted that Iran is developing cooperation with EurAsEC countries. He expressed the hope that after completing the free trade process between Iran and union members, Tehran’s trade relations with Moscow and other union member countries will increase dramatically.
“We agreed to reduce the time for merchandise control, as well as the expenses (tariffs). Therefore, on the one hand, Iranian goods and products can be imported into Russia faster, and on the other hand, the transfer of Russian goods to Iran will be accelerated.”Kashin added.
The Iranian side was represented by the vice-president of the Committee on Agriculture, Rahmatulla Novrozi, and the vice-president of the Social Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Vali Esmaili. They declared their country’s readiness to expand relations with Russia and remove barriers to these ties.
