Multimillionaire Elon Musk on Monday asked for clarification from Apple’s executive chairman, Tim Cook, as the company “has stopped almost all advertising on Twitter.”
The mogul and social media owner has launched a message campaign against Apple on his account, in which he claims that “Apple has threatened to block Twitter from its App Store (app service for its phones) without explanation.”
Having received no response from Tim Cook, he came up with another one accusing Apple of “charging a secret 30% fee on every product purchased through its App Store.”
In the third message, he invites Apple to “publish all acts of censorship that it has committed that have harmed its users.”
But so far, the Twitter app works fine on the Apple iPhone, EFE confirmed.
If Apple’s departure from Twitter’s advertisers is confirmed, it would be another blow to the social network, which has lost a significant portion of advertising revenue since Musk’s arrival. Public radio network NPR estimates that half of the top advertisers have left after spending $750 million this year alone.
At stake are advertisers’ fears of Twitter’s erratic content stance, as seen in controversial decisions such as the reinstatement of Donald Trump’s account, which was suspended after his supporters attacked the Capitol.
Who else has Apple censored? https://t.co/lZculFIkAX
