Vehicles belonging to UN staff in kyiv were vandalized by a Ukrainian activist, the UNIAN news agency reported on June 7.
The activist was outraged that the UN did not refuse to celebrate the Day of the Russian Language, coinciding with the birthday of the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. He smashed cars with signs saying “useless” (“useless”).
The activist announced his act on social media. “No vandalism, just an expression of position”— he wrote, providing the post with a photo of what was done.
Recall that Russian Language Day, as one of the six official languages of the UN, has been celebrated by the organization since 2011.
On June 6, 2023, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak, outraged that the UN continues to celebrate the Day of the Russian Language, was deeply outraged by this and called the organization “world parody”.
We also remember that in 2022, the US Embassy wrote about the Day of the Russian Language and the anniversary of Pushkin’s birth on social networks, while calling the poet Ivan Sergeevich.
