The National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Administration (ANEPC) counted 241 cases up to 8:00 pm Thursday related to bad weather such as falling trees, minor floods and water rescues, according to a source at the organization.
The incidents occurred, in fact, “on the northern coast (124), with records in Greater Lisbon (22) and the Setúbal Peninsula (13),” the source added, pointing out that it was at the sub-regional command of the armed forces. The Porto metropolitan area, which has “the highest number of incidents recorded: 39”.
Regarding the type of incidents resulting from the passage of the Oscar Basin, he said they included “falling trees (81), flooding (62), road clearing (61), falling structures (24), seven mass movements and three rescues water”.
According to an ANEPC source, “997 units of operational and 352 land objects” were involved in these incidents.
As for the next few hours, the forecast is that the current conditions will remain until the beginning of the next dawn.
Almost all parts of mainland Portugal have issued a yellow meteorological warning this Thursday due to the forecast for occasional heavy rainfall, occasional hail.
