The man who was beaten by three EMEL employees on Avenida da República in Lisbon spoke to CMTV this Thursday and recounted everything that happened the day he was attacked. Helder, who had already been discharged from the hospital, lost his memory at times, and people helped him.
On May 29, a man was waiting for his wife to go out to lunch when he noticed a man on a motorcycle saying “keep it up”.
The EMEL employee acts more aggressively and inflicts what could be called a “hit on the car.” “I don’t know if it was a punch, a push or a kick,” he says.
Helder hears again that he needs to move the car from the spot, but replies that he can’t do it because the seat in front is forbidden.
At the same time, the EMEL employee stands, according to the attacker, in front of the car, ready to charge him. Helder also says it’s “a matter of seconds” before a municipal company van shows up with two other employees.
One of them allegedly “aggressively” leaned his head against Helder before saying, “Get the car out of here. Are you not listening to my colleague?” the victim says. Helder says that the conversation does not concern him. After the EMEL employee again assumes an aggressive posture, Helder ironically asks: “Are you going to hit me?”.
After the question, the man says that the aggression began. “I got hit and fell to the ground. All three of them started beating me,” he says.
The beating resulted in a broken tooth, two loose teeth, a broken nasal septum, and “scratched knees while trying to escape.” “I crossed to the other side of the road, where I fell. People said I passed out twice, but I don’t remember,” he says.
Helder assures that the attacks stopped only thanks to the intervention of “witnesses”. The victim wants the employees of EMEL to be punished so that this situation does not happen again.
The man, who was on vacation, had a meeting with the municipal company, where he explained what was happening. Elder filed a complaint with the PSP the day after the events and underwent surgery on June 4 at a San Jose hospital.
