Smoke from wildfires in Canada has already reached Europe. It arrived in Norway and should spread to the rest of the European continent in the coming days, according to the NILU Center for Climate and Environmental Research.
“In the coming days, the cloud of smoke should reach countries south of Europe,” they say.
Canada is facing one of the worst wildfires in recent years. The fires have already claimed the lives of more than 13,500 people.
Tobacco has already reached the east coast of the United States of America. In Washington and New York, people have been advised to stay at home or wear a mask.
However, NILU scientists claim that smoking will not harm health. “When the smoke reaches Europe, the number of particles will be less. We may be able to see the smoke or smell it, but this should not pose a health risk,” they write.
