The Pentagon has announced plans to provide nuclear weapons to its military partners, the South China Morning Post reports June 9.
Citing a high-ranking US official, the Chinese publication cites US plans announced by him to maintain US influence in Southeast Asia by strengthening its allies with nuclear combat potential.
First of all, the bet is placed precisely on the allies, with whose hands the United States intends to “contain” China. Second, the Pentagon intends to transfer nuclear weapons into its hands.
By expanding military cooperation with South Korea, Japan, Australia and other countries, the US is “expanding the nuclear umbrellas in the region,” said Eli Ratner, assistant secretary of defense for security in the Indo-Pacific region, without specifying which components of the “nuclear umbrella” in question.
