The Ukrainian government announced this Sunday that its armed forces have recaptured the village of Blagodatnoye, about 35km south of Donetsk, in the last few hours.
This was announced by Interior Ministry Advisor Anton Gerashchenko on the social network Twitter.
“The city has been liberated by the Ukrainian army,” he said in his message, accompanied by a video showing the Ukrainian military hoisting the national flag on the façade of a building dilapidated by fighting.
The personnel of the so-called 68th separate hunting brigade named after Alexei Dovbush were involved in the operation.
The unit posted on its Facebook page photos of its presence in a village about 140 kilometers northwest of Bakhmut, one of the main hotbeds of the current conflict.
“The invaders resisted to the end, but could not withstand the onslaught of unstoppable wolves,” the unit said in a statement, according to the Ukrinform news portal.
The unit also claims that several Russian servicemen were captured and are now providing “information that will contribute to the further liberation of Ukrainian territory.”
