Fourteen people have died in the week, 10 of them Thursday through Sunday, in traffic accidents, according to preliminary crash data available on the National Republican Guard (GNR) website.
From 00:00 last Monday to 24:00 Sunday, GNR counted 1323 accidents in its area of operations, as a result of which 14 people died and 26 were seriously injured.
On Sunday, 182 accidents were reported, resulting in four deaths and nine serious injuries, the day with the most casualties.
On Sunday, a crash involving a car and two motorcycles in the Serra da Arrábida in Setúbal killed two people and seriously injured two, according to GNR.
Two more people died on Sunday as a result of accidents in the areas of Lisbon and Viana do Castelo.
On a holiday Thursday, 187 accidents occurred, resulting in three deaths and one seriously injured.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, GNR counted 548 accidents, seven dead and 15 seriously injured.
