A fire on the third floor forced the evacuation of a building on Rua do Bairo in Maya on Tuesday. The alarm was announced at 8:08.
Speaking to Lusa around 9:30 a.m., a source from the Moreira da Maya Volunteer Fire Department said the fire was still on.
A source from the Sub-Regional Civil Protection Emergency Operations Command of the Porto Metropolitan Region indicated that operatives on the ground “encountered technical difficulties in entering the residence.”
It was not possible to specify how many people were evacuated from the building.
According to preliminary data, the fire occurred in the apartment of a 30-year-old man.
At 9:30 a.m., 25 volunteer firefighter operatives Maia, Pedrusus and San Mamede de Infesta were on the scene, along with an ambulance from the Pedro Hispano Hospital (Matosinhos) and two GNR vehicles.
Maya Civil Protection is monitoring the situation.
