Fishermen will be able to officially catch 5.17 tons of salmon in new fishing grounds near Egvekinot, Beringovsky and Provideniya, the press service of the Chukotka Salt and Food Department reported on June 15.
“The catch volumes of salmon for recreational fishing were distributed at the request of users to four more new sites located in the Egvekinot area, the village of Beringovsky and near the village of Provideniya in the amount of 5.71 tons, from of which 2 tons of pink salmon, 2.71 tons of chum salmon and 1 ton of sockeye salmon,” the message says.
The department recalled that earlier the Commission for the Regulation of Anadromous Fish Production in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug distributed the volume of salmon catches for recreational fishing in areas located at the mouth of the Anadyr River and in the Anadyr estuary in the amount of 29.4 tons.
In total, the total volume allocated to recreational fishing amounted to 35.11 tons, of which 10.5 tons of pink salmon, 22.71 tons of chum salmon and 1.9 tons of sockeye salmon.
Recall that Putin’s season in Chukotka in 2023 will open from June 20.
